f Q Innuwl HERBERT I.. CONGER, OF MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN.
DESIGN FOR A BOOK-MARK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 32,731, dated May 29, 1900.
Application filed May 5, 1900. Serial No. 15,650. Term of patent 7 years,
To @ZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HERBERT L. CONGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Milwaukee, iu the county of Milwaukee and State of Visconsin, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Book-Mark; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
In the said drawings, Figure l represcntsa plan view, Fig. 2 a transverse sectional view on the line 2 2 ol Fig. 1, and Fig. 3 a like sectional view on the line 3 3 of Fig. 1, oi' a book-niark embodying my new design.
My design relates to the new and original shape or configuration of the article.
The leading or essential feature consists in the unitary design for a book-niark made the subject of illustration, comprising the shape of the right-hand portion A of the article, (in the position shown in Fig. 1,) having a continuous straight upper edge its entire length, as shown, between the points marked a and b, respectively, and a straight lower edge between the points c and d, the said lower edge being formed on the line of the are of an ellipse between the points d and e, the extreme right-hand end being formed on a rounded line between the points e and b, together with the shape of the left-hand portion B of the article, (in the position shown in said Fig. 1,) Where it is formed on parallel straight lines, as shown, between the points f and g and between the points h and t', with a rounded extreme left end, as shown, between the points f and h,
and the shape of the intermediate portion C of the article, following the lines of two inwardly-inclined opposite lines between the points g andj and between the points t' and k, the said inclined lines being slightly concaveiy rounded as they approach the points j and It, respectively, and thence merging into oppositely-rounded convex lines between the points j and Land between the points k and m and terminating in transverse short straight lines between the points [and c and between the points m and c.
Minor features of said design comprise forming the parts A and B of the salue width transversely from edge to edge, as best shown in the section views, Figs. 2 and 3, and the whole article of the same thickness, save that the entire edge of the part A, opposite to the edge between the points aand b, is converged from each side to form a sharp edge, as best shown at n in Fig. 3, in contrast to the opposite square edge of the portion A between the points a and b, as best shown at o in said Fig. 3, both edges of the portion B havinglikewise square edges, as best shown at p q in Fig. 2.
Having thus described my invention, what I elaiin as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a book-mark, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
HERBERT L. CONGER.
