YVILLIAM E. GARLSON, OF CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE, ASSIGNOR TO WILLIAM B. DURGIN COMPANY, OF CONCORD, NEW HAMPSHIRE.

Application filed January 27, 1902. Serial No. 91,523. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, WILLIAM E. CARLSON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Concord, in the county of Merrimack and State of New Hampshire, have invented and produced a new and original Design for an Ornamental Dish; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
This invention relates to a new and original design for an ornamental dish or receptacle for containing and holding fruit, nuts, bonbons, condiments, or other articles, and the same is represented in the accompanying drawings and referred to in the following description.
In the drawings, Figure 1 is a top plan View, and Fig. 2 is a side elevation, of the ornamental dish.
The general and prominent characteristic of the design consists of the representation of a peacock standing erect with its tail-feathers spread, the feathers being represented as surrounding a central portion, constituting the body of the receptacle.
The general arrangement of the body feature is that of a laterally-spread tail of a peacock of the characteristic feather representa tions extended to cover a relatively larger area both laterally and rearwardly, the central portion being dipped and curved inward and thence upward and outward, While the border or side feathers are represented as curving downward to a point on the plane of the feet of the fowl representation. The rear of the extreme tail portion is represented as being elevated, forming a graceful curve.
The design as represented is intended largely to be wrought or made of a metal, such as silver; but in this connection the dish may be made of other materials or combinations of materials, as the essential feature of the design resides in the representation of a peacock, substantially as shown.
Having thus described the invention, What is claimed as new, and desired to be secured by Letters Patent, is
The design for an ornamental dish, substantially as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
WILLIAM E. OARLSON.
