DESIGN FOR A SOUVENIR-SPOON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 35,573, dated January 14, 1902.
Application filed November 25, 1901. Serial No. 83,6 58. Term of patent 7 years.
To [LZZ whomit may concern.-
Be it known that I, JULIUS A. OSWALD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Crawfordsville, in the county of Montgomery and State ofIndiana, haveinvented and produced a new and original Design for a Souvenir- Spoon,of which the following is aspecification.
My invention relates to a new and ornamental design for a souvenir-spoon, of which the accompanying drawing shows a plan View.
Theleading feature of the design is the representation in the bowl of the famous Ben Hu-r chariot-race and the representation on the handle of a portrait of Gen. Lew Wallace.
Minor features of the design, named in the order of their importance, are the representation of the private library of the author, the representation of the famous Ben Hur beechtree, under which the greater portion of the novel was Written, the sword and wreath, emblems of victory, and the scroll and pen. The
scroll and pen are shown directly under the bust representation of the author, which is arranged to be read when the spoon is held with the handle upright, and the representations of the library, beech tree, and sword and wreath are arranged in the order named beneath the portrait, the representation of the sword being extended parallel with andin the center of the narrow stem portion of the bandle and terminating short of the bowl.
Having described the invention, what is claimed is-- The design for a spoon, substantially as shown and described.
