UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
ABRAHAM LANG, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A VEST OR SIMILAR ARTICLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,615, dated June 4, 1901. Application filed March 19,1901. Serial No. 51,946. Term of patent 3i years.
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, ABRAHAM LANG, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, county and State of New York, have invented a certain new and original Design for Vests or Similar Articles, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a new and original shape or configuration of an article of wearingapparel, more specifically of a vest or waistcoat, although the said design may be used on other similar articles of wearing-apparel.
The essential and material features of my design reside in the special configuration wherein the combined aspect of a singlebreasted vest-collar and double-breasted body are secured.
In the drawing forming part of this specification the gure is a front elevation of a complete vest embodying my design.
At l are the side sections of the vest, provided with the cut-away portions 2 or armholes and the central front opening 3. At 4 are the lapels, following the contour of the opening 3, the lapels terminating at the point 5 a considerable distance down the vest-front.
The points are juxtaposed when the vest is buttoned, as shown. As to each of the side sections from the points 5 the material of the vest converges outwardly and downwardly and substantially triangularly to the lower point 7, the triangular edges 11 forming the points thus forming the overlapping portions 10. From the points 7 the lower edges 2 converge outwardly and upwardly until they meet with the side edges 9 and forni the points 8. The flaps 10, which extend outwardly from the points 5 when the vest is buttoned, as shown, overlapeach other, the vest then presenting the appearance, so far as the lapels are concerned, of a single-breasted vest and below the lapels that of a doublebreasted vest. In this an entirely unique and pleasing appearance is given to a vest or similar article of wearing-apparel.
Having described my invention, I claim- The design for a vest or similar article, substantially as shown and described.
Signed at the city, county, and State of New York this 18th day of March, 1001.
ABRAHAM LANG.
