UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
WILLIAM TAYLOR, OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A BOLT-GUARD.
SPECIFICATION forming part Of Design No. 34,243, dated March 19, 1901.
Application filed February 20, 1901. Serial No. 48,196. Term of patent 14; years.
To (all whom, it may concern:
Be it known that LWILLIAM TAYLOR, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago,
in the county of Cook and State of Illinois,
have invented and produced a new and original Design for Bolt-Guards, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof, and in which the figure is a perspective view of a bolt-guard, showing my new design.
The bolt-guard is designed especially for use on doors, and comprises a main plate A, having at one edge a right-angled wing B, from the edge of which extends a returned plate or portion C, of greater width than the wing B, so the returned plate C will extend beyond the opposite side of the main plate A to that from which the wing B projects, producing in edge View a T shape, with one of the wings of the T doubled, as best shown at the upper end of the figure of the drawing. At the opposite edge of the plate A is formed the bolt-strike flange D, which projects from the edge of the plate A and lies approximately in the same plane as the said plate. The main plate A is provided with openings E, from the opposite edges of which project flanges F and G, which extend parallel with each other and in the same direction as the wing B of the main plate A, the entire guard presenting the appearance illustrated in the figure of the drawing.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a bolt-guard, as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WILLIAM TAYLOR.
Witnesses:
