SHEET GLASS.
(Applicnticn filed Oct. 18, 1900) Fl GJ- Jiiiyis UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDIVARD \VALSH, JR., OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
DESIGN FOR SHEET-GLASS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,672, dated December 4, 1900.
Application filed OctoberlB, 1900. Serial No. 33,518. Term of patent 14: years.
To all whom it "my concern.-
Be it known that I, EDWARD WALSH, .Ir., a citizen of the United States, residing atthe city of St. Louis, State of Missouri, have invented a certain new and original Design for Sheet-Glass, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which Figure 1 is a plan View of a portion of a sheet of glass made in accordance with my new and original design, said view representing the obverse side thereof. Fig. 2 is a similar view representing the reverse side; and Fig. 3 is a sectional view on line 3 3, Fig. 1.
This invention relates to a new and original design for sheet-glass; and it consists in the surface ornamentation thereof, as will hereinafter he more fully described.
In the drawings, I have shown a portion of a sheet of glass, one surface, which I have designated as the obverse side, being configured by parallel ronndedcorrugations, while the opposite or reverse side of the sheet is configured by a series of irregular convex and concave faces of various sizes and shapes,
having the general appearance of rippled water.
The design consists, essentially, of the parallel rounded corrugations on one side and the rippled surface on the opposite side, as Shown in the drawings.
When a sheet of glass ornamented and configured according to my new and original design is interposed between the source of light and the observer, the corrugated surface being nearest the observer, the design on the reverse side is destroyed by refraction, so that the convex portions of the corrugations are traversed by lights and shades at about right angles to the axis thereof, while in the con cave portions the rippled or wavy surface on the reverse side is so defined as to be perceptible to the observer.
\Vhat I claim is The design for sheet-glass, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signatnre,in the presence of two witnesscathis 13th day of October, 1900.
EDWARD \VALSII, JR.
