Description

DESIGN.
Patented July 23, IBM.
E. WALSH, m. SHEET GLASS.
(Applicntion filed July 1, 1901.)
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
EDWARD WALSH, JR., OF ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
DESIGN FOR SHEET-GLASS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 34,844, dated July 23, 1901.
Application filed July 1, 1901. Serial No. 66 ,784. Term of patent 14 years.
To wZZ whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD WALSH, J r., a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of St. Louis,in the State of Missouri, have 'nvented a certain new and original Design r Sheet-Glass, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a plan View of a portion of a sheet of glass made in accordance with my new and original design, said view representing the reverse side thereof. Fig. 2 is'a similar view representing the obverse side, and Fig. 3 is an edge elevational view.
This invention relates to a new and original design for sheet-glass; and it consists in a the surface ornamentation thereof, as will hereinafter be more fully described.
In the drawings I have shown aportion of a sheet of glass, one surface of which I have designated as the obverse side, being configured by parallel rounded corrugations, while the opposite or reverse side of the sheet is configured by raised and depressed portions forming scrolls, which are grouped together, said scrolls being of various sizes and vested one within the other, so as to resemble helically-formed shells.
The design consists, essentially, of the parallel rounded corrugations on the one side and grouped scrolls on the opposite side, as shown in the drawings. I
' A sheet of glass ornamented and configured according to my new and original design has an appearance to the observerdilferent from either of the designs on the opposite faces thereof. When the corrugated surface is nearest the observer, the regularity of the grouped scrolls on the reverse side is destroyed by refraction, so that the convexes of the corrugations are traversed by lights and shades at about right angles to the axes thereof, while in the concaves of the corrugations the grouped scrolls on the reverse side are better defined.
What I claim is- The design for sheet-glass substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature, in the presence of two witnesses, this 21st day of June, 1901.
- EDWARD WALSH, JR.
