INVENTOI? UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FREDERICK F. SCHAFFER, OF NAUGATUCK, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE GOODYEARS INDIA RUBBER GLOVE MANUFACTURING COMPANY,
OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR AN OVERSHOE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 33,444, dated October 23, 1900.
Application filed September 25. 1900. Serial No. 31,105. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDERICK F. SCHAF- FER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Naugatuck, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Overshoes, of which the following is a specification, referring to the accompanyingdrawings, in which-- I0 Figu re 1 represents a perspective view showing my design for overshoes. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same; and Fig. 3 is a section on line 3 3, Fig. 2, through the upper part only of the shoe.
The leading or material feature of my design consists of two oppositely and outwardly curved lines or ridges extending downwardly along the front of the shoe and terminating at some distance from the toe of the same and a series of crossing lines or ridges between aforesaid curved lines or ridges arranged so as to form diamond-shaped figures, the more tapering points of which are terminated by small circular ornaments.
Referring to the drawings, A indicates an overshoe such as used by ladies, the upper part being at each side formed with approximately U-shaped recesses a, so as to provide an approximately-semicircular upward front 0 extension B.
I) 1) indicate the two oppositely and outwardly curved lines or ridges, which extend downwardly from the upper end of the extension B and terminate below the same at some distance from the too, said lines or ridges being beaded, as shown.
0 indicates 1 he inter-crossing lines or ridges, forming diamond-shaped figures, and c indicates the small circular ornaments.
Extending from side to side of the shoe and terminating at aboutits mid-length isa ribbed and beaded series of lines or ridges d, which curve upwardly and forwardly from each side of the shoe to form an approximate semicircle d at the front of the shoe, such semicir- .5 ole being curved oppositely to the edge of the extension B and both being arranged symmetrically.
What I claim is- The design for an overshoe, such as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
FREDERICK F. SCHAF FER.
