Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
ELIJAII C. RINNER, OF COSIIOCTON, OIIIO.
DESIGN FOR A STOVE-HOOD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 30,802, dated May 16, 1899.
Application filed April B, 1899. Serial No. 712,330. Term of patent 3i years.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, ELIJAH C. RINNER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Coshocton, in the county of Coshocton and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Stove-Hood; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
This invention relates to a design for stovehoods or articles to be applied to a cookingstove for carrying off noxious odors, steam, and smells incident to cooking.
The leading feature of the design is a hood of oblong form having its sides parallel and bounded by rectilinear lines, the profile of the toplnost line being offset at an intermediate point and the top and the reduced end being closed by parallelogrammatic sides, whose faces are straight and intersect with the side pieces, forming straight corners.
For a clearer understanding of the design reference is to be had to the following description and the several Views of the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a perspective View. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section. Fig. 3 is a transverse section on the line X X of Fig. 2, looking to the left. Fig. 4 is a section on the line X X of Fig. 2, looking to the right. 4 Corresponding and like parts are referred to in the following description and indicated in all the views of the drawings by the same reference characters.
The hood is in general appearance a parallelepiped of rectangular form and is oblong, the sides 1 being straight and parallel and offset at their top edges, as shown at 2, whereby the end portions of the hood are of different elevations. The terminal lines 3 and -lV are parallel and at right angles to the top and bottom lines, and the line 2, corresponding with the offset, is parallel with the line 3. The bottom line 5of the sides is straight and the top line is broken, the end portions G and C" being parallel with the line 5 and extending at right angles from the line 2 in opposite directions.
The hood is closed at its top and thc re duced end by sides S, 9, 10, and ll. of parallelogrammatic outline and which intersect with the side pieces 1 upon straight lines. The sides S, 9, 10, and 1l are straight, and the sides 8 and l0 are in different planes corresponding with the top lines G and 7 of the sides l. The sides f) and l1 coincide with the lines 2 and 4.
In crossseetion the hood is of rectangular outline, being bounded upon three sides, the fourth or bottom side being open. In longitudinal section the hood appears bounded on two sides, the other two sides being open and the top boundary being broken to correspond with the outline of the top edge of the sides.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is- The design for a stove-hood, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
II. B. MCDONALD, WILLIAM S. MERRELL.
