UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
THOMAS A. GALT, OF STERLING, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A LID FOR WASHING-MACHINE CASINGS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 31,942, dated December 5, 1899.
Application filed July 10,1899. Serial No. 723,422. Term of patent '7 years To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THOMAS A. GALT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sterling, in the county of \Vhiteside and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for the Lid of a \Vashing- Machine Casing, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part thereof.
My invention consists in a design for the lid of a washing-1nachine casing in which the two opposite sides B are in the form of trapezoids, the two long sides of which are parallel and the longer of the short sides or ends are adjacent to the front end of the lid. The front end A is of rectangular shape, and its short ends meet the fronts of the trapezoids B and form at their junction interior right angles, the end A sloping outward toward the bottom of the lid.
The back of my design is the same shape as the front, but on account of the difference in the length of the adjacent end of the sides B does not slope as much.
At right angles to the tops of the sides B and the back is fitted the top E, which covers over one-half of the space inclosed by the sides B and the ends. Through the center of the top E extends a longitudinal opening straight on one edge, but cut away on the other so as to form semicircular openings. The space D between the tops of the sides ll, the end of the top I), and the front A is rectangular, the short sides being formed by the tops of the sides ll.
Bordering the space I) on three sides and fitting down onto the sides 13 and the end of the top E are the strips 0. The border thus formed flares slightly upward and outward above the said space D.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for the lid of a washing-n1 achine casing as herein shown and described.
THOMAS A. GAL'I.
