Patented May 2, I899. W. A. GRIFFITH. GULF STICK HANDLE. (Liplication Med Apr. 10, you.
INvEMU \MpuAM/XEF FH n UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
\VILLIAM ALEX. GRIFFITH, OF QUEBEC, CANADA.
DESIGN FOR A GOLF-STICK HANDLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 30,708, dated May 2, 1899.
Application filed April 10, 1899. Serial No. 712,539. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom, it nuty concern:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM ALEX. GRIF- FITH, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, residing in Quebec,in the Province of Quebec, Canada, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a GolfStick Handle, of which the following is a specification.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of a golf-stick handle, showing my new design. Figs. 2 and 3 show the same in side elevation looking at the handle from the left and right hand sides, respectively, of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a perspective view thereof.
The leading feature of my design for a golfstick handle comprises an elongated body portion or handhold, presenting an irregularly-curved surface, with a slight longitudinal swell at one side thereof, an eccentric enlargement at one end of the body portion, and an offset knob at the other end, the body portion beyond the knob terminating in a recessed flaringendhavinga central projection.
As illustrated in the drawings, the elongated body portion or handhold A is shown as presenting an irregularly-curved surface, with a slight longitudinal swell a? at one side thereof, intermediate an eccentric curved enlargement a at one end, and an offset knob a at the other end. The general trend of the enlargement a is at an angle to the longitudinal axis of the body portion, its under side, as a being quite abrupt, while its upper side slopes gradually to and merges into the surface of the body portion, said enlargement, viewing Fig. l, projecting farther from the body portion at the right-hand side than at the left, at a. The offset knob a overhangs or projects considerably beyond the surface of the body portion, as indicated at a and merges into the surface of the latter at the opposite side, as at a. The body portion, beyond the knob, terminates in an outwardly flaring recessed or cup-shaped end (1 having a conical projection a at its center, as illus* trated in Fig. 4.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a golf-stick handle, substan* tially as herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
WM. ALEX. GRIFFITH.
Witnesses:
