DESIGN FOR A BRUSH-BACK OR SIMILAR ARTICLE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 30,044, dated January 24, 1899.

Application filed December 22, 1898. Serial No. 700,065. Term of patent 7 yearn.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, FRANK H. LA PIERRE, a citizen of the United States, residing at East Orange, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented andproduced a new and original Design for Brush-Backs or Similar Articles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.

Figure 1 is a plan view of a hair-brush having a back of my new design; and Fig. 2 isa sectional view of the same on line to, Fig. 1.

As shown in the drawings, the leading or material featu re of my newly-designed brushback consists in a large polka-dot ornament placed at the center of the larger portion of a brush-back ornamented by small dots distributed over a plain ground.

In said drawings, a indicates the larger or body portion of the brush, said body portion,

being in plan ovally rounded at the end and having its convex side outlines converging toward the handle b of the brush. Concave curves 0 c outline that portion of the handle adjacent to the body portion of the brush, and rearwardly beyond said concave curves the handle is approximately oval in general outline. The edges of the brush-back are rounded ed, as at d, and the plain surface of the back is ornamented with small dots e.

The back of the larger portion a of the brush is ornamented by a polka-dot 'i, centrally disposed upon the dotted ground and being of much larger size than the dots in said ground.

What I claim as new is- The design for a brush-back or similar article, as herein shown and described.
