Design 1Y0. 3,000, dated April 21, 1868.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, WILLIAM G. ALGEO, ofthe city of Pittsburg, in the county of Allegheny, and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Improved Design for Burial-Casket; and I do hereby declare the following to he a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference heing had to the accompanying drawing, making a part of this specification, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of a burial-casket, showing my improved design, and
Figure 2 is a vertical longitudinal section of the same. i
Like letters of reference indicate like parts in each.
Myimproved design for burial-casket consists in the octagonal shape which I give to the ends ofthe casket and its mouldings, cover, te., in connection with the style of ornamentation adopted in the mouldings and sides.
That the character of my invention may bc more readily understood, I will proceed to describe the same.
The sides a of the casket, and the edges b of the rim, are made of the usual shape, that is, curving, with a uniform curve each way from the middle of the casket toward each end. The sides, a, are ornamented with panels, a', of any desirable style or shape. The casket is covered with the lids, c, and raised cover, d, the latter resting on the mouldings e. The edges of the lids c, and cover d', and the face of the moulding c, are of any desirable style of ornamentation.
Three plane faeesf, each face being one face of an octagonal body of like breadth, depth, and shape, constitute the ends of the body of the casket. This -octagonal form is carried up, and the rim b, monldings e, cover d, and lids c, at their outer ends, are of like octagonal shape.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for burial-casket, hereinbeforc set forth and described.
In testimony whereof, I, the said WILLIAM G. ALGEO, have hereunto set my hand.
' WM. G. ALGEO.
