'IO ALL WHOM IT MAY GONCERN:

Be it known that I, JOHN MURPHY, of the city and State of New York, have invented or produced a new and original Design for Pistol-Barrels; and I doillereby declare the following to be a correct description ofthe same, reference being had to the annexed drawing, making part of. this specification, wlierein- Figure l is a plan or top View of the pistol and barrel, and

Figure 2 is an end view of the barrel. g

My design relates to the shape an'd configuration of the metallic pistol-barrel.

The general exterior form of the under side a of the barrel b is semicircular, to fit into the stock, as now usual, but the sides of the upper part of the barrel are formed as rounding inclincs c, extending from the semicircular part et to the edges ofthe longitudinal groove d, that runs along the top of the barrel, and in which is the sight e. The rear end ofthe groove d opens above the tail-piecef of the breech-pin, and the said breechpin is rounded, as at z', to form the ornamental configuration at the said rear end of the groove d.

AWhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The design of the shape and configuration of the pistolbarrel with thegrooved upper surface, as described, and shown in the drawings, within the lines a, b, e, and ol.
