Description

NICHOLAS MULLER, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
Design No. 3,138 dated July 28, 1868/ DESIGN FOR A CLOCK-CASE.
fiilge fidptule numb it in flgcsi Ztettnrs new amt muting tart 11f its 8min.
TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:
Be it known that I, NICHOLAS MiiLLER, of No. 102 West Forty-Ninth street, city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and ornamental Design for Clock-Case; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable those skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being bad to the accompanying photograph, forming part of this specification, in which the design is represented by a front view.
This invention relates to a design for a clock-case, representing a structure in the Gothic style of the thirteenth century. For convenience in description, the design may be divided into three parts, a a, b b, c a, being respectively the upper, middle, and lower parts. The part a a is formed by a sharp, roof-sl1aped top, (the moulding ornamented as seen in the photograph,) and contains the upper half of the dial-hole. Halfway around the dial-hole is a chain of arabesques, and above the same a hand may be seen, protruding from a cloud, signifying welcome.
The main features of the middle part, b b, are two columns (one on each side,) resting on chimeras, which support the upper part a a. This portion contains the lower half of the dial-hole.
On the side of each of the columns, and between them and the dial-hole, are two rings or circles, each containing an arabesque. I
The part c 0 may be subdivided into two portions, (Z and (2. On each side of the upper portion, (Z, is a column, on which rest the two upper parts, a a and b b. The space between the columns is ornamented by Gothic tracery. The lower portion, e, is the base proper of the whole structure, the moulding and ornamentation of which may be seen in the photograph.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a clock-case, as herein shown and described.
The above specification signed by me, this Qlth day of June, 1868. H
NICHOLAS MULLER.
