DESIGN FOR A MEMBER OF A PAIR OF TONGS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,307, dated September 6, 1898.
Application filed March 26,1897. Serial No. 629,446. Term of patent 7 years.
a all whom it may concern:
30 it known that. we, LEVI M. KAPP and JOHN L. KAPP, citizens of the United States, and residents of La Grange, in the county of La Grange and State of Indiana, have invented a new and original Design for a Member of a Pair of Tongs; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, which will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this specification.
Our invention relates to a new and novel design for a member of a pair of clothes-tongs; and the leading feature consists in the peculiar configuration given to the jaw of the member, whereby a neat and ornamental appearance is imparted thereto which will readily enable it to be distinguished from other tools for similar or analogous purposes now in common use.
In the accompanying drawing the figure represents a side elevation of a member of a pair of clothes-tongs constructed according to our design.
In the said drawing the reference-uumeral 1 designates the handle of a member, and 2 the jaw. The inner portion of said jaw is inclined at an angle to the handle, while the outer portion is inclined inwardly, formingan arm 3. Bythis construction an angular space 5 is formed between the inner and outer portions of the jaw.
\Vhat we claim is- The design for the member oi. a pair of tongs, substantially as herein shown and described.
In testimony that we claim the foregoing as our own we have hereunto affixed our signatures in presence of two witnesses.
LEVI M. KAII. JOHN L. KAII. Witnesses:
