rm; Nonms perms co. FHOTQ-LVYHU.. WASHINGTON n c UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JAMES A. GALVIN, OF NEXV YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A WASHBOARD.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 29,073, dated July 19, 1898.
Application filed November 16, 1897. Serial No. 658,765. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J AMES A. GALVIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of New York, (Brooklyn,) county of Kings, and State of New York, have invented and produced a certain new and original Design for a \Vashboard, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof, in which Figure 1 is a plan View of a washboard embodying my design. Fig. 2 is a transverse section of the same, taken on the line 2 2 on Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section of the same, taken on the line 3 8 on Fig. 1.
The interior corrugated surface D of the board A is rectangular, being bounded by the legs B at either side and the cross-piece O at the top, the said cross-piece G offering a rectangular recess such as is ordinarily found in Beginning at either side and such devices.
at the top the said corrugated surface is inclined downwardly on curved lines as it approaches the center for a short distance, and then after it has been sunk somewhat below the surface of the other parts of the board the said surface presents a plane face, so that the main interior surface of the corrugated portion is disposed in a plane somewhat below the level of the other parts of the board. The line of the outer boundary of the depressed corrugated portion at top and sides forms an inverted-U shape.
lVhat I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a washboard substantially as herein shown and described.
JAMES A. GALVIN.
