A li ti fil d December 18, 1897. Serial No. 662,495 Term of patent 3% years.
To (1% whom itmcty concern:
Be it known that I, LoUIs PRETZER, a citizen 0f the United States, residing at Attleborough, in the county of Bristol and State of lllassachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Handle for Spoons, Forks, and Similar Articles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a view of the front or obverse side of the handle, showing the same as attached to the bowl of a spoon, in solid lines, and to a fork, represented in broken lines. Fig. 2 is a view of the reverse side of the same.
As shown in the drawings, the leading and material feature of my design consists of the shank 3, having the marginal raised beads A, terminating in foliations 5 5, surmounted by the convex bulb-shaped panel 6, from the upper end of which extend radial fillets separating the series of semispherical balls 7 7, and marginal scrolls inclosing the same, as will be more fully set forth hereinafter.
In the drawings, 3 indicates the shank of the handle; 4 4, marginal raised beads which at the junction of the shank with the blade of the handle terminate in the inwardly-spreading foliations 5 5. The convex bulb-shaped panel 6 on the blade of the handle has its up per rounded end surmounted by the series of semispherical balls 7 7. The ornament 8 extends aeross the handle at the junction of the stem with the blade of the handle. The scrolls 9 9, having transversely-ribbed panels, extend along the margin of the blade. They are surmounted by the foliated scrolls 1O 1O and, with the end ornamental scrolls 11 11, form the border of the blade of the handle. The ornament 8 and the convex bulb-shaped panel 6, with the coronet of balls 7 7, are omitted on the reverse side of the handle.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for a handle for spoons, forks and similar articles herein shown and described.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
LOUIS PRETZER.
