DESIGN FOR A BOX-STRAP.

SPECIFICATION formng part of Design No. 27,910, dated November 30, 1897.

Application filed September 27, 1897. Serial No. 653,266. Term of patent 14 years.

T0 all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SPENCER C. CARY, a citizen of the United States of America, and a resident of Brooklyn, Kings county, New York, have invented a new and original Design for BoX-Straps, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of the same, in Which Figure 1 is a view representing the upper face of a strip of such strapping made in my new design, and Fig. 2 is a side or edge of such strip.

The Strap exhibits body portions and eyes all in one piece. The bodyportions are short, straight, or substantially straight, pieces bounded longitudinally by substantially straight lines eonnecting a series of the eyes together, and the eyes are coniposed of two strands of the metal, one strand-the upper, as seen in the plan View-bouudcd by substantially parallel Curved lines continuous with the body portions of the article, sweeping in a convex curve from one body portion to the next body portion, and the other stra-ndthe lower, as seen in the plan-bouuded by substantially similar Curved lines contacting at their ends with the lines describing the first strand, but not being continuous with the body portion on that side where the lines of the first strand are thus continuous and their curve being set in the opposite direetion to the ourve of the lines bounding the first strand, the cnrves being sufficient to leave between the strand an eye in a suhsiantialbr double convex form, the whole design represcnting a strap with a series of body portions bounded longitudi nally by substantially straight lines and a series of eyes, the strands forming eyes appearing to bc formed of horizontally-divided portions spread horizontally in Curved lines, substantiallv as shown, and the essential features of the design are the substantially straight body portions in one piece and alternating with substantially double convex eyes horizontally setinterniediate the body portions, one strand defining each eye being bounded by snbstantialY parallel convexly-curved lines continuous with the lines defining the hodyportion and the other strand of each eye being bonnded by similar Curved lines reversely set, eontacting but not continuous with the lines of the first strand, the material of one strand joining the body portion at a lower level than the jnncture lhcrewith of the other slrand.

That I claim as my invention, and dcsire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The design for a box-strap substantially as herein shown and described.
