DESIGN FOR A ROPE-TIGHTENER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,472, dated. August 3, 1897.
Application filed June 28, 1897. Serial No. 642,758. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, LEwIs EDWIN Cones, a citizen of the United States, residing at Lansing, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have. invented and produced a new and original Design for Rope-'lighteners,of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a plan View of a rope-lightener, showing my new design. Fig. 2 is a .view in side elevation thereof. Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional \lCW taken on line 3 3 of Fig. 1, looking in the direction indicated by the arrows; and Fig. l is a similar View taken on line 4 4 of Fig. 1, looking in the direction indicated by the arrows.
As shown in the drawings, nlydesigu COIllprises a piece A, of wood, metal, or other material of an elongated shape, having near its middle portion laterally-extending projections a, which are beveled toward their edges. Outwnrdly and on one side of said projections the piece A is red need, as at a, and is then formed with an enlarged or rounded end 1;, which is downturned, as shown in Fig. 2 of the drawings. Through the end B is a hole or opening I), and through the body of the piece A, near its middle, is another hole or opening I), which holes or openings are united by means of a groove or depression b in the upper surface of the tightener. The lower surface of the piece A is formed with a groove or depression 0, which extends to near the end of the piece A, opposite that having the hole I) therein. Near said end is formed another opening 0 of any suitable size.
