Be it known that I, GILBERT S. Nauru, a citizen of the l'nited States, residing at Myrtle, in the county of Oregon and State of Missouri, have invented and produced a new and original Design. for 'lombstones, of which the following is a specification, reference being, had to the aecompamving' drawing.
lhe new design is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which the figure represents a tombstt'n'ie constructed in accordance with my invention.
The leading feature ot my design consists in a tombstone baring (n-namcntal columns supported by a suitable base covered by an angular top piece and having a space between the upper portions of the columns For the reception of a plate which form sunken panels.
A represents the base of the tombstone, which is composed of the lower portion A, rectangular in general contour, the portion a, formed upon the portion a, and the upper or main portion li, resting on the base The pri neipal portion resting 011 the base is formed of the columns 7), which are, as shown, circular in cross-section and are of Varying sizes from top to bottom, giving them an ornamental appearance.
Arranged upon the supporting-columus is the top (7, composed of a cross-piece e and converging pieces c", the converging pieces w meeting at the center of the structure and forming a top to the same. The top has attached. to it. a cross N, which cross may be of any of the well-known forms. Arranged between the columns a plate I), which is of a 1naterial,sueh as glass, but any desired material may of course be used.
Having thus described my invention, what. I claim is The design for a tombstone substantially as herein shown and described.
