UNITED STATES Patented August 11, 1903.
JAMES I. WOOLVERTON, OF TRENTON, NEW JERSEY.
DENTAL MIXING-TABLET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 735,929, dated August 11, 1903. Application filed December 5, 1902. Serial No. 134,056. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be itknown that 1, JAMES I. WOOLVERTON, a citizen of the United States, residing at N 0. 123 North Stockton street, in the city of Trenton, county of Mercer, and State of New J ersey, have invented a new and useful Dental Mixing-Tablet, of which thefollowing is a specification.
My invention relates to an improvement in the dental mixing-tablet, which has heretofore consisted of a plain tablet or slab usually composed of glass and by some makers mounted upon short legs or pegs.
. My improvement consists of a ledge or gutter running entirely or partially around the sides of the tablet and a short distance below the edge of the top surface. This ledge or gutter is for the purpose of catching and retaining any particles of material, fluid or solid, which in the process of mixing may slip over the edge of the tablet as it is now constructed and which would otherwise be lost or at least cause great inconvenience and loss of time in being pursued and replaced. Moreover, the materials daily mixed by dental surgeons, who are the most frequent users of this tablet, are often of great intrinsic valuesuch as gold, silver, &c.-and this ledge is to prevent the total loss of much of this valuable material, which otherwise would and indeed does frequently occur.
Referring to the accompanying description,
I would say that Figure I represents the tablet as viewed from above, while Fig. II is a vertical section of the same tablet.
In Fig. II the lineA is the base-line'of the tablet, and the shoulder, projection, or ledge (marked B) is the alteration and improvement calculated'to bring about the results above set forth and for which this patent is asked.
The material of which these improved tablets will be constructed will be either glass or porcelain, at the discretion of the inventor or his assignee.
I am aware that prior to my invention dental mixing-tablets have been made, sold, and used 5' also, that by some makers these tablets have been mounted upon legs or pegs. I therefore do not claim either of these points.
What I do claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
As an article of manufacture a dental mixing tablet or slab with a ledge or gutter around its sides and between the upper edge and the edge of the base substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
JAMES I. WOOLVERTON.
