DESIGN FOR A PUZZLE BOX OR CASE.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 25,963, dated August 18, 1896. Application filed June 25, 1896- erial No. 596,951. Term of patent '7 years.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, EDWARD M. PECK, a citizen of the United States, residing at Flushing, in the county of Queens and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Puzzle Boxes or Cases, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying draw ings, which form a part thereof, in which Figure l is a plan view of my improved puzzle box or casing; and Fig. 2, a transverse section on the line 2 2 thereof, these two views being deemed necessary to fully illustrate my design.

My improved design for puzzle boxes or cases consists of a rectangular box or case, and the leading features thereof consist of the bottom A, the sides a, and the ends a together with the following characteristic features of my design, which consist of a U- shaped chamber D, which is arranged centrally of the box or casing and which is formed by U-shaped walls or flanges d, the walls or flanges E, which are arranged at equal distances from the sides of the U-shaped chamber D, and which correspond in form with the walls thereof, and similar curved walls or flanges G, which are arranged at equal distances from the walls or flanges E, and which are similar in form, and which are connected at one end with the corners of the box or casing by diagonal walls or flanges g and at the other end with the sides of the box or casing by inclined walls or flanges g".

The U-shaped chamber D opens in the di rection of one end of the box or casing, and formed at said end is a triangular chamber and the opposite end of the box or casing is provided with a central vertical partition flange or wall B, which extends inwardly to the point where the inclined walls or flanges g meet the ends of the walls or flanges G, and by means of which similarly-shaped chambers L and M are formed, and placed in said chambers L and M are short transverse walls or flanges m, and by means of this arrange ment of the various walls or flanges passages K are formed at the inner end of the wall or flange B and passages F, between the chamber'I) and the walls or flanges E, and similar passages II between the walls or flanges E and the walls or flanges G.

It will be seen that the walls of the chamber D and the walls or flanges E and G are all similar in form, and the passages F and H are also similar in form, and the entire design is symmetrical and regular in outline.

Having fully described my new and original design for puzzle boxes or cases, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent The design for puzzle boxes or cases herein shown and described.
