DESIGN FOR A PUZZLE-BOX.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 26,957, dated April 20, 1897.
Application filed March 6, 1897. Serial No. 626,326. Term of patent 7 years.

Be it known that I, WILLIAM PHILIP CON- STABLE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Yonkers, in the county of \Vestchester and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and useful Design for Puzzle Boxes or Cases, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
In the drawings forming part of this specification, Figure l is a plan view of my puzzle box or case; and Fig. 2, a central transverse section thereof, these two views being deemed necessary to fully illustrate my design.
The leading feature of my design consists of a casing which is rectangular in form and which is provided with a bottom 5, vertical walls 6, and the space within the vertical walls 6 is rectangular in form, and placed therein and secured to the bottom 5, at equal distances from the walls (5 of the box or casing, are four similar walls 7, whereby another rectangular space S is formed, at one corner of which is an opening 9, and within the rectangular space S is another central rectangular space 10, which is formed by four vertical walls 11, and at one corner of which is an opening 1:3, and formed in the central rectangular space 10 and near each corner thereof and at the center are five cavities or depressions 13.
The opening 12 in the walls of the central rectangular space 10 isdiagonally opposite to the openin 9 in the walls of the rectangular space 8, and the spaces between the walls (i of the box or casing and the walls 7and 11 ot. the spaces 8 and '10 are of the same width, and the entire device is symmetrical and rectangular in form, and the upper surface of the bottom 5 is smooth and even throughout.
Having fully described my design, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patcnt-- The design for a puzzle box or case herein shown and described.
