CHARLES FORRESTER, OF JERSEY CITY, NEW' JERSEY, ASSIGNOR TO JOHN HOYLE, EDVIN HARRISON, AND ANDREIV KAYE, OF PHILADELPHIA,
PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A TABLE-COVER, 84.0.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 25,160, dated February 1 1, 1896.
Application filed September 13,1895. Serial No. 562,462. Term of patent 3 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that 1, CHARLES FoRREsrER, a subject of the Queen of Great Britain, residing at Jersey City, county of Hudson, and
5 State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Chenille Fabrics,of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this specification.
My invention has for its object the provision of a new and original design for the body and border of a table-cover, rug or similar article of the character fully disclosed by the I accompanying drawing.
The body A consists of the representation of three Arabian horsesone a white steed, standing in an erect position with head turned to one side, and mounted with a decorated 2o saddle and fanciful stirrups appending therefrom; another of a black or deep brown color standing by its side with head extended toward an Arab, dressed in native costume and in a sitting posture, with two muskets on the ground before him and with eyes raised toward his steeds. In the background, behind a well, is a pack-horse with head and neck extended over the same. In the far background, on one side of the picture, is a clus- 3o ter of trees, while on the other side, in the distance, are pyramids, and above and beyond them ablue sky and light, fleecy clouds. The pictorial scene is suitably shaded and colored and is surrounded by a border B enibellished by floral decorations and having on 3 5 the side contiguous to the body A distinct, flowing, curved, irregular and ornamented brackets, merging into the flowers toward the border-line of the cloth. The body on the right, left, and lower sides of the picture, adjacrut to the bracketed inner edge of the bordt r, is shaded, the shading gradually decreasing in depth and richness inwardly toward the groundwork of the picture. The floral decorations of the border consist of bouquets at the center of each side, with large and small flowers interspersed over a background. At various points on the inner edge of the flowered border rosebuds overlap the same and extend into the deep shading adjacent to the bracketed boundary of the border.
I clain1- 1. In a design for a table-cover, or similar article, the body A substantially as shown. 5 5
2. In a design for a table-cover, or similar article, the border B substantially as shown. 3. The design for a table-cover, or similar article, comprising the bodyA and the border B, substantially as shown.
In testimony of which invention I have hereunto set my hand.
CHARLES FORRESTER. Witnesses:
