A prime object of my invention is to providea novel form of house cap that is composed of a single piece of fiat material that may be easily folded and detachably secured together so as to form a cap of great utility and beauty.

A further object is to provide a novel form of cap 'that may be easily and conveniently `laundried when soiled, and that has no attachment thereto that will render laundrying a dicult operation.

A still further object is to provide a cap construction which, when folded and secured into shape for use, will effectually protect the wearers hair when dusting, and at the same time permit the air to circulate freely therethrough.

I accomplish the above objects by means of the cap herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

Referring more specically to Fig. 2 of the drawing, the cap preferably consists of a fiat rectangular body 5, composed of two` layers of wash material 6 and 7, stitched together at the edges thereof. 'Secured to the rear edge 8 of the body 5 is a rear or tail portion 9, referably formed. of a single ply of materia so that when in place on a persons head it will readily conform to the hair and fold gracefully without wrinkling. This rear portion 9 is secured to body 5 midwaybetween lsaid bodys edges 10 and l1, as clearly shown in Fig. 2 of the drawing.

Formed in two of the inner oppositely disposed corners and adjacent edges 8, 10 and 11 of the body portion 5 are button holes 12 and 13 angularly disposed with respect to said edges and engaged by buttons 14'and 15. When the cap is folded for use, `button 14 engages button hole 12, and butt0n 15 engages button hole 13.

The transversely disposed edge of the rear portion 9 is preferably cut angularly, as shown in Fig. 2, so that when the cap is folded and in place on a persons head, said edge will readily conform to the wearers neck and present an attractive appearance.

The front edge of body portion 5 is adapted to be fol at about the distance from the outer edge, as indicated by dotted line 16 in Fig. 2.

To further add to the beauty of design, I have secured to the edges of the body portion and rear portions, an ornamental taping 17, here shown as of serpentine form, a1-

though other forms of ornamentation may be employed.` This taping 17 is secured to ed on itself and preferably the underside of rear portlon 9 and the rear edge 8 of body portion 5 and extends upwardly along end edges 10 and 11 of body portion 5 to the point of fold, indicated by the dotted line 16. The tape is then jbrought up from the under face of layer 7 and con-i tinued along edges 10 and 11 and the horizontally disposed front edge of body 5, and secured to the top face of body portion 6 at the edge thereof. This method of securing the tape to the edges of the cap is to secure a uniform edge when the cap is folded, as clearly shown in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings.

The rear or tail portion 9 is of a suiiicient length so that when the ends are secured to the body portion 5, there will be sufficient room to accommodate a womans hair, which is generally massed on the rear of the head. The body portion, when folded, extends across the front of the wearers head, and the points of attachments being approximately at the wearers ears, the extreme end portion of the tail portion extending forwardly when the cap is folded and secured so as to closely fit the back of the wearers neck, as clearly shown in Fig. 1 of the drawing.

If desired, the body 6 and rear portion 9 may be formed out of a single piece of material, formed by dies so that a large number would be cut at a single operation.

From the foregoing description, it will be observed that I have provided a one-piece cap that may be easily and readily formed into shape, and which is of great utility and beauty.
