DESIGN FOR A PACKING FOR STEAM-PIPE JOINTS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,801, dated October 29, 1895.

In aZZ whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY P. WEALE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Boston, (Roxbury,) in the county of Sufiolk and 5 State of Massach usetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design fora Packing, of which the following is a specification. Of the accompanying drawings, forming a part of the specification, Figure 1 is a top 10 plan View of a packing, showing my design. Fig. 2 is a sectional view of the same on line 2 2 of Fig. l.
The leading feature of my design consists in a series of rings united together by radial [5 arms, said rings having edges arranged at an angle to the plane occupied by said rings.
(1. represents the packing for joints in steampipes, and is composed of a series of rings a, rectangular in cross-section. These rings are 2c arranged in the same plane, as shown, and united together by radial arms 0?. These arms are the same shape as the rings.
The packing is formed with an aperture 0. at its center and with apertures a near its circumference. One of the diagonals 0f the rings is arranged at an angle to the surface of the packing or the plane occupied by the said rings.
The design as a whole appears as a series of edged rings lying in the same plane and bound together by radial arms.
What I claim is The design for a packing substantially as herein shown and described.
