DESIGN FOR A GAS-ENGINE FRAME.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,728, dated October 1, 1895.
Application filed April 8,1895. Serial No. 545,000. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom. it may concern:
lie it known that we, CHRISTIAN .l. \VEIN- .\l.\.\' and ICowu-n) E. EtftrnEnrol-En, citizens of the United States, residing. at Dayton, in the county of illontgomery and State of Ohio,
have invented and produced a new and original Design for a (iaslCngine Cylinder and Frame, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the acic companying drawings.
This invention relates to a new and original design for a gas-engine cylinder and frame.
The leading feature of our design consists of a frame having, [lat sides, projecting wings, I5 and a substantially flat bottom, a top curved near one end, and a transverse opening substantially the same shape as the outline but indented by the upper part of the wings.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of a gas-engine frame and cylinder embodying our design, and Fig. 2 a cross-section of the frame.
Our new design of frame consists in a substantially flat bottom or base A, substantially rectangular, and an upper body B nearly upright at the ends with a curved corner 0 and a top generally inclining from such curved corner to the other end. This latter portion of the body is also rounded on the upper ex- 0 terior. A raised ledge D is formed at. the sides with the lower part F. of the hearing. A seinicular cap F fits upon the ledge D and has formed on it the remaining part G of the hearing. A flat surface or plate ll sin-mounts the curved upper part. A removable door I is fitted to one end and forms a raised surface orpanel in appearance. This frame is further fashioned with a lateral opening whose upper wall J and end wall K and lower wall I. are respectively nearly parallel with the extcrioroutlineopposite tothciu, while a curved wall .\I unitcstho walls .I and I.. llctwccn the walls K and I. is formed another wall consisting of straight parts 0 and l and an inter mediate curved part (3, which three walls form the lower half of a bearing; and these walls are surmounted by a cap It of similar outline.
