No. 23,707. Patented Oct. 16, 1894.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES A. BAILEY, OF CROMYVELL, CONNECTICUT, ASSIGNOR TO THE J. & E. STEVENS COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A RANGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of DesignNo. 23,707, dated October 16, 1894.
Application filed August 31. 1894. Serial No. 521,875. Term of patent 336 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES A. BAILEY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Cromwell, in the county of Middlesex and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and original Design for Ranges; and I do declare the following to be a. full, clear, and exact description of the design, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
Figure l of the drawings is a representation of an elevation of the front side of range. Fig. 2 is an elevation of rear side of range. Jig. 3 is a. front elevation of range. Fig. 4 is a rear elevation of range.
Thisinvention has relation toa certain new and useful design for ranges, and it consists in the novel form and configuration of parts, all as hereinafter described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
Referring to the drawings, it will be observed that the general form of the body A as viewed in side and end elevation, and in plan, is rectangular, with a depending curtain flange B at the base, and an overhanging top plate.
The rear portion C of the body, when viewed in plan, forms an even continuation of the body, but when viewed in side elevation, is seen to form an offset from the base, its bottom line or wall having a double, upward curve. At the opposite end of the body is a horizontal hearth-projection G having a flat surface, and slightly beveled lateral and front edges.
The curtain flange B extends entirely around the base, and has a leg extension B at each angle. Said flange is ornamented by a raised vine and flower figure, wherein the representation of the vine is wound alternately above and below the representations of flowers in series.
The rear side of the body A is ornamented bya large, fan-shaped figure D, in relief, with a smaller figure of similar character in each lower corner. The corresponding surface of extension 0 has thereon a raised figure somewhat in imitation of a door with beveled faces.
The front end of the range, above the projection G has a door shaped figure Hin relief thereon, with openings 72. at its lower portion.
The front side of the range, above the curtain flanges has a raised figurek thereon, below its small door K, and above this figure and the door is a raised bar Z, which is curved downwardly to meet the projection G. The small door K is ornamented with a rectangular figure L on its face, such figure inclosing four raised bars or arms radiating from the four angles of a small ceh tral rectangle, and extending to the four corners of the figure. Around the said figure L are smaller raised figures.
The large or oven doorM is ornamented by four broad plane bars, forming a rectangle m, having an inner border of scroll-work and an outer border composed mainly of small points. The portion 0 on this side has a raised projection N formed in imitation of the small door K. The rear end of said projection has thereon a series of raised bars N, radiating from a common center, and the lower curved wall of said extension has a series of parallel narrow openings.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for a range substantially herein shown and described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
CHAS. A. BAILEY.
