UNITED STATES FRANCIS A. \VILLIAMS, OF BRUOKLYN, ASSIGNOR TO RUTZLER 8t BLAKE, OF
PATENT ()FFICE.
NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A FU RNACE-FRONT.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,123, dated February 28, 1888.
Application flied December :14, 1887. Serial No. 268,931. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANCIS A. WILLIAMS, of the city of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented and produced anew and original Design for a Furnace- Front, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying drawings, forming parts thereof.
Figure 1 represents a face view of my newlydesigned furnace-front. Fig. 2 represents a horizontal section in the line m a; of Fig. 1, showing one-half the width of the furnacefront. Fig. 3 represents a horizontal section ofhalf the furnace-front in-theline y 3;, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference designate corre sponding parts in the several figures.
The body-plate A of the furnace-front is flat. Its contour is square, except that the central portion of the top is arched at a, and its corners are projected horizontally from the sides in horizontal lines b and curves 0, and there are horizontal proj ections composed each of straight lines d d and curves e. The said plate is surrounded by a raised molding consisting, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, of a fillet, f, and cavetto g. It has on its upper part a central flat raised panel, h, of circular outline, and on each side of said panel h a flat raised panel, '5, of segmental form, conforming to the arch a, as shown in Fig. 1; and it has on the lower part, at each side, three panels, j k I, one above another, the central one, j, having a circular outline and the others having an oblong square outline, except that their bottoms are curved to conform to j and their upper corners are composed of hollow curves. The transverse sectional profile of the edges of all the panels consists of a cavetto, l, as shown in Fig. 2, wherein the panels h and 'i are represented.
The upper doors, B, have their outline of square form, with their outer corners rounded. The lower doors, 0 and D, have their upper parts arched and their sides and hottoms square, with ronnded outer corners.
The doors project from the bod y-plate A, and all have similar marginal moldings, the said moldings each consisting, as shown in Fig. 3, of a fillet, m, having cavettos n in its sides, and outside of this an ovolo, 0. The doors have also in their panels r, within the outer molding, a bead, P, the outline of .which is in the form of an oblong square having its lines prolonged at the corners and formed into squares q.
What I claim is- 1. In a design for a furnace-front, the plate A, having upright sides and an arched top,
"with its'upperand lower "corners rojecting from the sides in horizontal lines I) and curves 0, and with side projections formed with straight lines d d and curves e e, and having on its face the raised segmental panels i i, circular panels and the panels kl above and below said circular panels, arranged substantially as shown and described.
2. In a design for a furnace-front, a door of rectangular form with rounded outer corners, and with a molding, m n n 0, around its edge, and having on its surface a bead, p, the outline of which is an oblong square with its corners prolonged and formed into projecting squares q, substantially as herein shown and described.
3. The design for a furnace-front, consisting of the plate A, having upright sides and arched top, with corners projecting in horizontal and curved lines 11 c, and with side projections formed of straight lines d d, and en rves e e, and having on its face the panels 'ij k l, and the doors B, of rectangular form, with rounded corners and moldings m n n 0, and beadsp, of oblong form, with squares q q at the corners, substantially as herein shown and described.
FRANCIS A. WILLIAMS.
