DESIGN FOR A SPOON.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 22,698, dated August 15, 1893.
Application filed A ril 22, 1893. Serial No. 471,601. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that LJOHN T. CURRAN, acitizen of the United States, residing at Brooklyn, county of Kings, State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Spoons, &c., of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, which forms part hereof.
This invention relates to adesign to be imparted to or worked upon spoons, 850., and consists in the novel configuration and. ornamentation herein shown and claimed.
The accompanying drawing is a. front view of a spoon with my design applied thereto.
My design is worked upon and imparted to both the handle and the bowl of the spoon.
My design is composed of two parts, the handle A and the bowl B. The handle A is surmounted by a representation of Columbus upon a pedestal. Suitable numerais or letters may be engraved upon said pedestal. On one side of this figure is a. representation of a draped American flag and on the other side a representation of a draped Spanish flag. Beneath the figure and pedestal is a representation of the Columbus coat of arms, beneath and about which are several scroll and other ornaments, and an ornamentation containing series of parallel lines and inclosing a panel on which suitable numerals or letters may be engraved. At the base of the handle is a. representation of the coat of arms of the United States, surmounted by a representation of an eagle.
The bowl 15 consists of a concave repre sentation of a geographical hemisphere, surmounted by a ribbon like ornament upon which a suitable motto may be engraved.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In the design for spoons, &c., the handle A, substantially as shown.
2. The design for spoons, &e., consisting of the handle A and the bowl B, substantially as shown.
