SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 20,597, dated March 24, 1891.

Application filed February 7, 1891. Serial No. 380,664. Term of patent 3% years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HENRY W. PARTON, a citizen of the United States, rcsiding'at Yonlc crs, \Vestchestor county, New York, have in- 5 vented a new and original Design for Carpets,

of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.

The invention relates to a design to be re worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets 15 view of a carpet, showing my new design.

My design consists of the body A and border B. The bodyA consists of a conventionalized group somewhat resembling a root havingcertain somewhat fungi-shaped forms 20 springing therefrom, together with shaded sprays and branches, all upon a ground of branch and leaf forms. The border B cousists of a conventionalized group somewhat resembling a root haringa certain somewhat fungi-shaped forms springing therefrom, together with shaded sprays and branches upon asoinewhat shaded ground running into an irregular marginal ornamentation.

\Vhat I claim, and desire to secure by Lettcrs Patent, is

1. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A, substantially as shown.

2. The design for carpets, consisting of the border B, substantially as shown.

3. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A and the border B, substantially as shown.
