M' VENTO/1? G, W Wam UNITEDg STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE W. IVALTON, OF GRAYLIN G, MICHIGAN.
DESIGN FOR A CAN.
To @ZZ whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, GEORGE XV. IVALTON, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Grayling, in the county of Crawford and State of Michigan, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cans for CakingIce, rbc.; and I do declare the ,following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specication.
Figure l of the drawings is a side view, and Fig. 2 is a top plan View.
This invention relates to new and original designs for cans; and it consists in the novel form and configuration of parts, as hereinafter set forth.
The leading feature of my design consists in the rectangular form of the can, as shown in Fig. l, with the lugs or bosses at each upper corner, which when viewed in plan, as shown in Fig. 2, conform to the shape of the angular portion of the can, these bosses being of the thickness of the body material of the can and following its contour for about onetenth each way from the line of intersection of two sides of the can, thus forming four projections.
The body of my design is of va hollow prismatic outline open at the top, with the lateral edges of the prism rounded. The superior edges of the prism are cut at right angles to the'plane of the top at each corner, and the four sections thus formed are turned outward and downward, forming the rounded edges A A. (S hown in Fig. l.) The faces of the prism forming the bottom of the can are also shown
