Vlie it known that l, FRENCH S. EVANs, a citi zen of the United States, residing at Tashington, District oi' Columbia, have invented and produced a new and original Design for (lane IIeads or Ilandles; and I do herebydeelare the [following to be a full, clear7 and exact description of the saine, reference being had to the accompanying drz'twings,` forming a part thereof.
Figure 1 is a plan or top View oi' a cane head or handle, showing one part of my design. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the head, showing the design `for one side. Fig. S is also a side elevation of the head opposite to that shown in Fig. 2.
The leading` features of the design consist in the convex medallions or busts in relief representing Tilliam McKinley and Garrett A. Hobart, the candidates of the Republican party for President and Vice-President, surrounded by an ornamentalV scrollwork, and the sides of the head or handle provided With the flag of the United States upon one face thereof and. upon the other face with the figure of an elephant.
In the accompanying drawings, A repre sents the main part or body of the cane, and 'il the head or handle. In the upper [ace ol' said head is formed the busts in relief or medallion portraits of lVilliam illelinley and Garrett A. Ilobart, the Republican vandidates for President and Vice-President ol` the United States, as shown at l). Upon one side of the head is represented the flag of the United States, as shown at (l, while upon the opposite side is shown the figure of an elephant E.
That I claim is- The design for cane heads or handles substantially as herein shown and described.
