Description

DESIGN.
0. E. EEETLEY.
BOTTLE.
N0. 20,032. Patented July 15, 1890.
m m M UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
CHARLES E. BENTLEY, OF NEYV YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A BOTTLE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design. No. 20,032, dated July 15, 1890.
Application filed June 3, 1890. Serial No. 354,143. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom zit-may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES E. BENTLEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design fora Bottle, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure l is a side View of a bottle showing my design, and Fig. 2 is an edge View thereof, these two views being deemed necessary to fully illustrate the design.
The leading features of my design for a bottle or dressing-case ornament consist in the. con figuration of its body portion, which in side View, Fig. 1, presents a broad fan-shaped outline having two opposite concave and comparatively sharp side edges, which merge upward into a neck or stem, and a lengthwise convexed or rounded base or bottom, into which the sides merge. In edge view, Fig. 2, the design presents to the eye a comparatively narrow or thin outline, formed of sides which gradually diverge downward from the neck or stem to the convexed elliptical base or bottom.
\ In the drawings, A represents the body of the bottle or ornament, which has an upper neck or stem a,which may be of like diameter throughout, but is shown slightly enlarged toward the top. The opposite sides 1 1 of the bottle are oonvexed laterally and merge into comparatively sharp side marginal edges 2 2, which, however, merge at the top into the rounded neck or stem, and are concaved vertically from the neck to the ends of the upwardly-convexed base or bottom 3, which the sides also meet. The base or bottom is broadest at the center and gradually tapers to its rather sharp ends 4 4, which meet the sharp side marginal edges 2 2 of the body; hence if viewed from the bottom the bottle or ornament presents an elliptical outline convexed lengthwise between its ends.
A cut-glass stopper is shown in the neck of the bottle.
I claim as my invention- The design for a bottle, substantially as herein shown and described.
