DESIGN FOR A SLOP-JAR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,740, dated October 8, 1895.

Be it known that I, Cino-:LES innmn HM'- ILAND, a. citizen ofthe United States, residing at the city of Limoges, in the Republic of France, have invented and produced e new and original Design for n Siep-Jai and other Articles, of which the following is i specification, reference being had to the accompanyingdrnwings, forming part thereof, in which- Figure] is :t side elevation of n slop-jor bearing my design. Fig. i is n vertical section throngha portion of saine; :ind Fig. 23 is :t top view, partly in section, on the dotted line I3 il of Fig.1,nnd indicates hy the dotted linev 2 the section on which Fig. i is tiiiccn.
'ihe lending features of my design consist, first, in the new :ind original shape and Configuration of the bod)v of the jdr, and, second, in the new and originel shape and conlig'urw tion of the hody ot said jar and its cover, as shown in the drawings forming :i part of this application.
In the drawings, A designates the body of the jar and B the cover therefor.
The cover B hasn concave central portion, and thence curves upward on graceful lines to the upper outer roiled and beaded cdgeof said cover, along which edge are the scallops D, the scallops l) being smaller than and composing the larger scallops or sections C. Upon the central part of the depressed top of the cover is an ornamental i1ziiidiei 1,\vl1ich traverses the usual inlet-opening l in said cover.
The body A of the jdr has concnved sides composed of the scalloped sections G il, of the ornate form and con figuration shown, the whole forming,r n body of ornamental character and outline. The lower edge of the body A bears the continuons bending I and scalloped sections T, the latter harinonizing with the sections G of the hody A and being snbdivided into the smaller scallops K. Upon opposite sides of thebody A may be provided handles L.
