DARIUS \VHITFORD, OF PROVIDENCE, RHODE ISLAND.
DESIGN FOR A WATCH-CHAIN BAR.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,085, dated May 7, 1889.
Application filed March 22, 1889. Serial No. 304,363. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DARIUS WHITFOED, a citizen of theUnited States, residing at Provideuce, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, have invented and produced a new and original Design for atch-Chain Bars; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, reference beinghad to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon,which form a part of this specification.
This invention relates especially to a design for a bar for watch-chains; and it consists of a bar polygonal in cross-section, enlarged at the center and tapering therefrom to the ends, the sides of one half alternating with those of the other half.
In the appended drawings, Figure 1 represents a side view of a watch-chain bar embodying my design, and Fig. 2 is a cross-sectional "iew taken on line a The elements composing my design are as follows:
a represents the polygonal sides or facets, the sides being widest at the center of the bar and tapering therefrom uniformly to the ends 6. The general form or contour of the bar A is that of two pyramids united at their bases, the sides of one pyramid alternating or breaking joints with those of the other, each side thereby forming and terminating in a V-shaped prolongation, a, at the center of the bar.
\Vhat I claim is- The design for a watch-chain bar having the shape and surface ornamentation herein shown and described.
