DESIGN FOR AN ORNAMENTAL CHAlN-LINK.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,653, dated January 3, 1882.
Application filed November 11, 1881. Term of patent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD F. SEERY, of the city and county of Providence, State of Rhode Island, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Ornamental Challi- Links, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact descriptiol'l, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specitcation.
Theileading feature of my design consists in a raised, plain, or ornalnented surface formed in the center of the tapeling sleeve et' an ornamental chain-link.
Figure l is a view of a ehain-link provided with a tapering sleeve, a, and a raised surface, b, formed on the center or largest part of the sleeve. Fig. 2is aview ofan ornamental chainlink provided with a sleeve tapering from the center toward both ends, on which a raised and ornamented surface is formed in the center and a raised ring or surl'aee on each end. Fig. 3 is a view of au ornamental chain'link provided with a sleeve tapering from the eenter to both ends. Araised ornaxnented surface is formed in the center and rounded beads or rings are formed on the ends of the sleeve.
In the drawings, a a a are the sleeves, made tapering from the center toward the ends. In
these sleeves the connecting-loops are secured, as is shown in the drawings.
b is acentral raised, flat, or ornamented sun face, which may be formed ofthe metal otv the sleeve. It may therefore be of the saine color .as the sleeve or of any other color.
c c are raised rings or surfaces at the small ends ofthe sleeve, which may be formed oi' the metal of the sleeve.
The sleeves d a may be made round, square, six or eight sided, or oval.
Heretofore ornamental chain-linkshave been made in which sleeves of uniform diaineterhavo been used ornamented by engraving, cutting, and slotling.
Having thus described my newly-invented design, l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The design for ornamental chainlinks herein shown and described, the s une consisting ot' a sleeve tapering toward both ends and provided with a raised surface in the center of the sleeve, as described.
