SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 19,672, dated March 4, 1890.
Application filed December 10 1889. Serial No. 333,290. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, EDWARD I. BEACH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Sleeve-Buttons and Similar Articles; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled. in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the aecompanyin g drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, which form a part of this specification.
In said drawings, Figure 1 represents a face or plan view of my design for a sleeve-button or similar article. Fig. 2 is a side or edge view of the same, and Fig. 3 represents a scarf-pin embodying my design, similar letters of reference indicating corresponding parts in each of the several figures where they occur. These three views are deemed suffi cient to fully illustrate said design.
The leading feature of the design consists in the peculiar configuraton or form of the surface or face of the button or other article, as will be hereinafter set forth and claimed.
Referring to said drawings, a and 1) indicate 0 two wire-like parts which constitute the design. The part a is curved to form arcs or segments of a circle around the outer edge and loops within the outer edge, as shown in Fig. 1.
In the center of the design, where theloops connect with or approach one another, a precious stone or ornament 0 may be secured between the edges of the loops. The part b presents the appearance of being twisted or interwoven with the part an outside of the loops, and in such manner that the outer edge of the design presents a series of arcs of a circle, while within the outer edge is shown a series of loops, which connect with or approach one another near the center of the design, where there can be secured, if desired, a precious stone or ornament, as hereinbefore set forth, and as will be understood upon reference to the drawings.
What I claim is- The design for a sleeve-button and similar articles herein shown and described.
