DESIGN FOR AN ORNAMENT FOR SHIELDS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,918, dated February 12, 1889.
Application filed December 24, 1888. Serial No. 294,543. Term of patent '7 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FEODORE A. BERNHARD, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for an Ornament for Shields, of which the following is a.fu1l, clear, and exactspecification.
My newly-designed ornainent for a shield is fully illustrated in the accompanying drawing, to which reference is made.
The leading feature of the design consists of a circle and inclosed hucks head resting on stars and bars at the bottom of the circle, and depending ornamental plates at the bottom of the circle and stars and bars.
A A represent two opposite curved portions of a wreath, joined at the top by a segment, B, surmounted byaml ornament, C. The lower ends of the wreaths join the American shield D, showing the stars a on one portion and the vertical bars I) on another below the stars. The said shield D is surmounted by the bncks head E, which occupies the center of the main shield. Depending from the wreaths and shield D are the notched projections d d and arms d d, and from the center of the shield D depends the circular projection f, arranged between the projections d d.
I claim The design for an ornament for a shield herein shown and described, the same consistingof a circle inclosing a bucks head resting on stars and bars, and the depending plates d f and top ornament, C.
