THOMAS B. ATTERBURY, OF PITTSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESlGN FOR A BOTTLE OR JAR.
SPECIFICATION formng part of Design. NO. 18,219, dated April 3, 1888.
Application filed February 27, 1888. Serial No. 265,516. Tcrm of patent- 7 years.
To all whom Z' may concern:
Beit known that I, THOMAs B. ATTERBURY, a citizen of the United States, residing at Pittsborg, in the County of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Bottles or Jars; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
My inventiou relates to designs for glass boltles orjars for mustard and like substances; and it consists of an oval or lat body having an annular rim Or projection near the top and having the sides at the ends of the ovals fluted.
Myinveution consists, further, of an Orna- Ineutal cap or cover for the month of the bot' tle or jar.
Figure 1 is a side View of my newlydesigned bottle or jar. Fig. 2 is an edge view of the same. Fig. 3 is a view in perspective of the cap or cover.
A indicates the main body of the jar, Which is oval or elliptical in form in Cross-section and terminates at the neck in an annular rim or projection, B. The edges of the main body have a projecting rib or fin, C, which eXtends from the bottom of the jar up to the annular rim B.
D are beads or flutings On each side of the rib or fin C, and form the ornamental portion of the jar. The neck of the jar eXtendS up from the annular riIn B.
His the cap or cover having 'plain sides, the central portion of the top or upper side being also plain, as shown at l.
K are beads or flutings arranged around the plain central portion of the cap, and form the ornamental portion of this part of the jar.
I claim as my invention 1. The design for a bottle or jar, composed of the oval or elliptical body A, having the rims or fins Ornamented With heads or flutings on the edges thereof, and the annular ledge or rim B, substantially as shown, and described.
2. In the design for a bottle or jar, the cap having plain sides, the central porton of the top plain, and a series of beads or flutes form' ing an aunular band around Said plain portion, substantially as described and shown.
