UNITED STATES PATENT OFFIcE.
DAVID F. HAYNES, OF BALTIMORE, MARYLAND.
DESIGN FOR A EWER OR JUG.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 23,726, dated October 23, 1894.
Application filed September 19,1894. Serial No. 523,498- Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom, it may concern.-
Be it known that I, DAVID F. HAYNES, a citizen of the United States, residing at Baltimore, Maryland, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Ewer or Jug, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
Referring to the said drawings, Figure l is an exterior side elevation of the ewer, and Fig. 2 a top view of the same.
I describe the ewer or jug as follows: Its base A is circular, and the body B is eggshaped, except that the ends are cut off so as to produce a frustum, which is comprised between the base A and the line w-w. From the line wa,1 begins the neck 0 which first fallsin, and is then flared out, forming a regular curve, and this neck at the front is formed into a lip D. The part a in the rear of the body conforms in shape with the lip D but is somewhat lower, and from it extends the handle E which has a foliated decoration.
The upper edge F of the ewer as seen from the side, is scalloped, and where the two boundary curves meet is a small circular inlet I).
At y-y, is a bead and between the bead and the line 50-01, is a limbriated design in relief.
The lower part of the body B has a band G with flutes 0 having in them fingers d in relief. Between the band G and the line m-w the body is covered with a representation of wild roses or primroses in relief.
The body is diagonally crossed by a band H decorated the same as the remaining portion of the body, except that the flowers are enlarged.
I claim as my invention The'design for a ewer or jug as herein shown and described.
DAVID F. HAYNES.
