The leading features of my new and original design comprise the representation, in a chair, of a back thereof having the shape and configuration` of the ordinary Baix-'spinning wheel, with a head-rest upon the superior arc` of said wheel, illustrating the spool and iiier` of snch a wheel, and the representation in the body portion of the chair beneath the seat, of the treadle of a flax-spinning Wheel, iu the place of the ordinary cross-brace, as Well as the conventional representation of other wellknown parts of the spinning-wheel-suchi as the ierstandards, wheelstandards, treadlepitnian, Ster-in the arms, posts,.and supports of the chair.
Inl the drawing, A represents the chair-back having a. central hub, a, from which radiate the spokes b to the periphery or -rm c. Upon the superior arc or segment of the rim is placed the ornamental rest H, consisting of an u pright in the form of the spool, bearing at its upper extremity the ordinary spindle and flier. Arms B, modeled to represent the wheelstandards, spring from a suitable point in the periphery of the wheelback and reach for ward to cover the posts C, arising from the seat portion of the chair in the ordinary man ner, and modeled to represent the dier-standards. Beneath the seat is disposed the crossz-` brace E, comprising the three members e', the same being in conventional representation of the treadle of a flair-spinning wheel Whose pitman passes upward from the extremity of the brace in the formi ot a straight bar 0r standard, G, attherear of the back.
