To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JAMEs H. ALEXANDER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and 5 State ofPennsylvania, have invented a certain new and useful lDesign for Trunk-Irons; and I do hereby declare Ithe following to be a full, clear, and exact description ofthe invention, reference being had to the accompanying drawro ing, which forms part of this specification, in which the figure is a plan illustrating my design.

My design relates to the shape of the iron and to the configuration and ornamentation i5 of the surface thereof; and it consists in such shape and ornamentation. Such ornamentation consists, essentially, of surface configuration in the form of a diamond-shaped or approximately diamond shaped figure, the 2o sides thereof being each composed of a series of shor-t curves joined at their extremities,

said figure having a circular center inclosing a cross or X, with radial lines extending from the circle to the sides of the diamond, and 25 with such sides forming or inclosing triangular spaces.

Referring to the accompanying drawing, A designates the iron, the surface of which is conignrated `with a diamondshaped or approXimat-ely diamondshaped gure, B, each 3c of the sides of which is composed of a series of short curves, b b, `joined at their extremities. The figure B has a centrally-located circle, C, inclosing an X or cross, D. From the circle D there radiate lines E Eof diferentlengths, 35 the outer extremities of such lilies meeting the sides of the figure B, and such lines and sides inclosing or forming triangular spaces e.

Vhat I claim as my design is as follows:

The design for a trunk-iron herein described, 4o the same consisting of a diamond-shaped or approximately diamond shaped figure, the sides of which are each composed of a series of short.curves joined at their extremities, said figure containing a circle inclosing an X 4 5 or cross,with radial lines extending outwardly from said circle to the external figure, and with the sides ofthe latter forming or inclosing triangular spaces, substantially as shown and described. 5o
