Description
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE EDWARD Y. MOORE, `OF CHICAGO, ILLINOIS.
DESIGN FOR A SLIDING--DOOR HANGER.
- SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 14,889, dated March 18, 1884.
Application filed January 26, 1884. Term of 'patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Beit known that I, EDWARD Y. MOORE, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Sliding-Door Hangers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying draw ing, forming a part thereof.
rlhe figure illustrates in front view a slidingdoor hanger having a front or main plate, A, which embodies my design.
Said front or main plate embodies, as two prime elements of my design, the two generally vertical but oppositely curved strap members c, connected centrally, as at b. The lateral horizontal-bar member c unites said vertical members (t a short distance below their upper ends-and above said bar member. The inverted-arch band c connects with both vertical members a near their upper ends, and also connects centrally with the bar member. These four elements, arranged substantially as sliown', constitute the main or characteristic feature of my design, regardless of the special ornamentation of either or all of said members. The horizontal-bar member c, as shown, has a plain front face, which I contemplate using asa name-plate for receiving any desired inscription; but said plain front face forms no essential portion of my design. The vertical strap members a have at their lower ends rounded and pointed tips a', and at their outer sides rounded bolt-ears a2, all of which are perforated, and each of said strap 'members hasaborder-line, a3, which contributes to the special ornamental effect desired. Said strap members have also a central line, c, which also contributes to said ornamental effect. The upper edge of the inverted-arch band has also a borderline, e', which harmonizes With the 'border-line c3 on the strap members.
The mechanical features of the hanger shown constitute the subject of a separate application for Letters Patent, Serial No. 118,834.
I claim- 1. The design for the front or main plate of a door-hanger, substantially as herein shown and described, consisting of the Ioppositelycurved vertical strap members, the horizontal bar member, and the inverted-arch band.
2. The design for the front or main plate of a door-hanger, substantially as herein shown and described, the same consisting of the oppositely-curved vertical strap members having border and central lines, the horizontal cross-bar, and the inverted-arch band.
EDWARD Y. MOORE.
