DESIGN FOR A PICKLE, PRESERVE, OR SIMILAR VESSEL.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,887, dated April 18, 1882.
Application led February 15, 1882. Term of patent 3l years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVID BARKER, acitizen of the United States, residing at Steubenville, iu the county of Jefferson and State of Ohio, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Pickle, Preserve, or other Similar Vessel, of which the following is a specification, reference beinghad tothe accompanying drawing, forming part thereof, which represents a side elevation of my newly-designed vessel.
The leading features of my design consist of a glass vessel having a cylindrical body ornamented4 by a series of angular horizontal ribs extending partially around the same,and a series ot vertical angular ribs crossing said ribs at right angles, and a medallion at each side of the body of the vessel having an ornamental border with the figure of a swanat the center, the body being provided with a series of annular beads at thetopand bottom, and with a abeaded base, ornamental handles, and a domeshaped horizontally-beaded top, snrmonnted by the figure of a swan. p
The letter A indicates the cylindrical body of the vessel, which is provided with a series ot' parallel horizontal ribs, B, extending parlally around it, and with a series of vertical ribs, C, crossing the horizontal ribs at right angles.
The letter l) indicates a medallion, one on each side of the vessel, the said medallion being surrounded by an ornamental border in raised lines E F. At the center of each me.- dallion is the gnrc of a swan, (indicated by the letter G.) The top and bottoni ot' the vessel are provided with the beads H I K, and the body rests upon a beaded base, I.
M indicates a beaded dome-shaped cover snrmounted by the figure of a swan, as indicated by the letter N.
The letter P indicates two ornamental handles. These are located on opposite sides of the body, their bases R forming the startingpoint of the horizontal angular ribs, the vertical angular beads commencing at some distance I'rom each side of the bases, so as to leave a series of short horizontal grooves, S,iin' inediately adjoining the bases. The handles are formed with vertical standards T, which at each end are enlarged and provided with star-shaped ornaments U, as shown.
I claim- 1. The design for a pickle, preserve, or other vessel herein shown and described, consisting of the body A, having intersecting horizontal and vertical ribs, a beaded top and bottom, a beaded base and cover, medallions at each side bearing the figure of a swan, a. beaded top snrmounted by the figure ot' a swan, and ornamental handles, substantially as specified.
2. The design fora preserve,pickle,or other vessel, consisting of cylindrical body having intersecting ribs, and a medallion at each side bearing the ligureof aswan, beaded upper and lower portions, a beaded base, and ornamental handles at opposite sides, substantially as specified.
