SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,541, dated October 25, 1881.
Application tiled September l l1-l To all whom it may concern Beitknowu that I, HENRY W. IIIRSCHFELD, of Meriden, in the county of New Haven and State of Connecticut, have invented a new De- 5 sign for a Spoon or Fork lIandle; and I do hereby declare the following, when taken in connection with the accompanying drawing and the letters of reference marked thereon, to be a full, clear, and exactdescription of the IO same, and whicheaid drawing constitutes part of this specification, and represents a face view.
This invention relates to a design for the handles of spoons, forks, and like articles of table-service, the design relating specially to [5 the ornamentation ot'the handle.
In shape the handle stat ts from the bowl, the sides parallel to the central circular boss, (I. From this boss the handle gradually expands, the sides being straight to the end, where it terminates in segment shape. At the upper end is asection inclosed by a head around the edge, and with a transverse bar, 1), across the face. This section represents a ground ofbasket-work on which is a branch representing fruit and leaves. Below this transverse bar is a. plain panel surrounded by a small head inside the edge bead, its upper end segmentshaped, corresponding to the end of the haudle. Midway between the boss a and the transverse bar b is a rose ornament, d, down to which the plain panelextends. Below the rose and toward the boss the surface is reeded. What I do claim isl. Thedesign fortheornamentation ot'spoon and fork handles, consisting of the basketground with the representation of a branch lying thereon, as shown in the accompanying illustration.
2. The design for spoon and fork handles, consisting of the series of rose ornaments on the face of the lower or shank part of the bandle, as shown in the accompanyingillustration.
3. The design for spoon and fork handles, consisting of the representation of the basketground at the tip with branch of fruit lying thereon, the rose ornament d on the face, with 40 plain panel above and reeded surface below, substantially as shown in the accompanying illustration.
