DESIGN FOR A FONT OF PRINTING-TYPES.

Specification forming part of Design No. 1 1,403, dated September 9, 1879; application filed July 15, 1879. [Term of patent 7 years] To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CHARLES E. HEYER, of Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of Illinois, have originated and designed a new and original Design for the Capitals and Figures of a Font of Printing-Types, of which the following is afull, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying printed illustration, making a part of this specification.

This design belongs to the Egyptian class of types, and its chief peculiarity consists in the condensed form imparted to the letters and figures, and the heavy projecting head and foot lines for each letter, of which the printed copy gives evidence.

A further peculiarity consists in the angular direction given to the central cross-line of the letters B, P, and E. This line, which is usually horizontal, I direct downward so that it joins the main stem at a point below the CHARLES E. HEYER.
