UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE SAMUEL S. SARGEANT, OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY.
DESIGN FOR HARNESS-MOUNTINGS.
Specification forming part of Design No. 11,272. dated July 1, 1879; application filed March 18, 1879.
[Term of patent 14 years] To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, SAMUEL S. SARGEANT, of Newark, in the county of Essex and State of New Jersey, have originated and designed a Pattern or Form for Harness-Mountings; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, makin g part of this specification- Figure 1 being a front view ofa terret formed according to my new design; Fig. 2, a side view thereof; Fig. 3, a cross section of the bow or ring of the terret, showing more particularly the form of the design.
Like letters designate corresponding parts in all of the figures.
The form, in section, of the ring or bow is nearly flat on the outer surface, a, or slightly convex from edge to edge. The inner surface, I), is rounded or convex, and the edges 0 c are either slightly flat or rounded, the form of this part not being essential.
At the outer edges, d d, is a rounded bead, and I generally mill this head, as shown. It is also generally made with this bead sunk in the surfaces a and c.
I have shown only a terret having my new design; but it is understood that check-hooks and other articles of harness-mountings usually made similar in design, and capable of being so formed, are included in the class covered thereby.
\Vhat claim as my invention. and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
Haruess-mountings formed with the outer surface, a, flat or slightly c0nvex, the inner surface, I), rounded, and the outer edges, (1 d, beaded, substantially as herein represented and described.
