PATENT OFFICE.
DAVID D. BOWEN, OF ADAMS, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR CASSINIERE.
Specification forming part of Design No. 10,13 l, dated July 31, 1877; application filed July 18, 1877. [Term of Patent 31} years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, DAVID l). BOWEN, of Adams, in the county of Berkshire and State of Massachusetts, have originated and designed a Pattern in (Jassimere; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying photographs, which form a part of this specification.
The design is shown by the accompanying photograph, of which the following is a descriptiou.
A represents a wide stripe running warpwise and striping the pattern lengthwise, composed of any small diagonal weaves, and at intervals is intersected weftwise with a delicate stripe or thread. B represents a very wide stripe, composed of sixteen (16) or more stripes irregularly grouped. There are seven (7) in the first row, and two (2) each in the following four groups, and but one in the last, producing a shading efl'ect.
These sixteen lines do not appear on the face of the cloth in continuous lines-that is, without interruption-but are so wovenin the warp as to occasionally appear on the face of the cloth, as if dashed in, giving a pleasing effect in the design.
The same delicate stripe as described in A is seen in B, being arranged at right angles thereto.
I claim as my invention- The above design, as described, and shown by the accompanying photograph.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own I have hereto affixed my signature in presence of two witnesses.
DAVID D. BOWEN.
Witnesses:
HENRY J. BLISS, BYRON P. MYERS.
